ABB Group

The Swiss headquartered ABB Group is a worldwide leader in power and automation technologies. The ABB Group of companies operates in around 100 countries and employs about 103,000 people.

For many years, ABB group has understood the value and advantages of international pooling. Karl Schmid, Compensation and Benefits Manager and Pool Manager for the ABB Group, set up the pool with the Swiss Life Network back in 1988. In 2002, ABB examined its pooling approach with the support of Watson Wyatt and decided to choose three providers (Networks).

Furthermore, ABB set up a group directive in order to bring all poolable business into one of the three pools. Since that time, the Swiss Life Network pool has experienced significant growth and today includes 15,000 employees in 14 countries.
Recognizing excellent collaboration
In late 2004, Karl Schmid retired and handed over the pooling responsibility to Charles J. Salek, Risk Manager for the ABB Group. The Swiss Life Network would like to thank Karl Schmid for the excellent and longstanding cooperation and for his determination to implement the ABB Pooling strategy. We wish him all the best in his future endeavours. The Swiss Life Network is looking forward to continuing this valuable collaboration with Charles J. Salek, who will become the new Pool Manager.
